In 1990 Royal Sluis Holland entered into 40:60 - a joint venture partnership with Nath Group in India and then the RS brand was launched in India by Joint Venture Company ‘Nath Sluis Ltd’. In 1998 Seminis acquired Royal Sluis, as a result Royal Sluis was changed to SVS Holland BV. Subsequently SVS Holland BV increased foreign equity participation in Nath Sluis from 40% to 90%. In 1999 Nath Sluis Ltd. was changed to Seminis Vegetable Seeds (I) Ltd.
For efficient regional control, the ownership was transferred from SVS Holland to Seminis Korea Inc. in 2001.
SVS Inc. acquired the 10% shares held by Nath Group in Nov 2002. Seminis Korea Inc. transferred equity shares to Seminis Vegetable Seeds Inc.
Today Seminis Vegetable Seeds (India) Pvt. Ltd. is a 100% subsidiary of Seminis Vegetable Seeds Inc. which is a consolidation of Royal Sluis, Petoseed, Hungnong, Bruinsma and other brands. Now Seminis has acquired Sasya brand business from February 2005 and is the number one vegetable seed company in West Asia and employes more than 127 dedicated professionals.
In view of West Asia’s growing economy, a Seminis Vegetable Seeds (India) Pvt. Ltd. has envisaged the growth potential of the Indian and adjoining countries’ vegetable seed industry and is determined to be the driving force in the Indian vegetable seed market with its high technological products.
