PRODUCTION
Objective: To produce required quantity of seeds with high quality within the specified time.
Depending upon the climatic conditions and the area, we have production activities in the States of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
In all these areas, the farmers are trained on the latest agricultural practices for producing the specific variety or seeds of highest quality.
Objective: To maximize productivity and minimize costs with the highest quality of seeds.
We have three production offices based at Deulgaon Raja-Dist.Buldhana in Maharashtra, Ranebennur-Dist Haveri in Karnataka and Sonipat in Haryana State, with the team of qualified and experienced professionals.
The series of quality enhancing activities are carried out during the course of production cycle. The Wet Seed Treatment facilities exist in the heart of Production Centers and the seeds are treated when they are still wet and after proper drying shifted to Central Operation Plant based at Aurangabad. The seeds here are stored in controlled de-humidified storage.
All the seed crops are being grown in South and Central India except Radish and Cauliflower. These two exceptional crops are grown in North India in the States of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
The Quality Enhancing Activities
The Production Centers are based in the area within the radius of 80-100 kms. The Farmer's Advisors are strategically located and are living in the villages for close supervision of the seed crop. The technical personnel are being visited at all the critical stages of the production. The expert and senior technical staff make visits at all the critical stages of production plots to ensure quality and quantity.
Cage Production
Presently, all the Hot Pepper hybrid seed production is done under the cages. The seed yield per plant is increased with less attack of pests and diseases and thereby the cost of cultivation of the crop has also come down.
OPERATIONS
Objective: To be a reliable provider of high quality seeds at low cost while raising our level of customer satisfaction.
In 1999 Seminis India Operations activities were started on a very small scale. Initially it was only a storage and distribution center. From December 2002 there has been continuous enhancement.
Seminis India Operations supplies seeds to West Asia.
Existing facilities include clean, treat, dry and pack the seed in different SKUs.
Seminis India Operations will continue to maintain leadership in Asia in technological advancements with regard to seed health and seed enhancement.
Future Plan: Considering the future business challenges and continuous increase in the volumes, Company is planning to increase the capacity of controlled warehouse, include facilities for disease treatment and add modern packaging machines.
