Objectives
To deliver test results in time and coordinating with other functions of the supply & delivery chain for the quality seed production and timely supply of quality seed.
Activities & Facilities
Major activities of Quality Assurance pertain to seed testing in laboratory and in the field and also to visit fields during seed production. For this we have a team of five highly qualified and experienced professionals.
Germination Test
QA Lab of Seminis India has world class facilities to test germination of 20,000 samples of vegetable crops. Laboratory is equipped with Germinators and Walk in Chamber needed for the test. In addition, two poly-houses support for “Soil germination test” which has excellent irrigation and fogger facilities.
Physical Purity Test
Lab has the facility for conducting around thousand samples for Physical Purity evaluations in a year.
Genetic Purity Test
The seeds produced by grower are subjected to genetic test either by laboratory Electrophoresis method or by growing plants in field i.e. “Purity Grow Out Test” depending on varieties. Seminis India is being supported by other laboratories of Seminis for lab genetic test which is quicker as compared to field test. Seminis India has an excellent farm at different locations to undertake field genetic test with a capacity of 3,000 tests a year.
Disease Test
Seeds produced in India are subjected to seed-borne disease test at Korea or US laboratories of Seminis.
Crop Inspection
QA has an important role in visiting seed production fields which helps in understanding the behavior and expression of parental characters used in the seed production and creating additional awareness to the farmers to achieve the production of quality seeds.
Standards
Seminis India seed quality standards are always higher than the Indian Minimum Certification Standard.
